Parquet Flooring Turned Headboard

Hello Friends!  I hope you enjoyed the Spectrum paint post and seeing how we recreated our paint chip wall!  We are really make strides in creating a home that feels like us!  One thing that goes a long way in making a bedroom feel complete is a headboard.  There are so many great ideas and options out there for headboards and today I am going to add one more! :)

You know those pieces of wood flooring you put underneath a desk chair so that it rolls smoothly?  Well, it turns out that wood can be so much more than a smooth surface!

Do you see what we did there?  The piece in the "before" photo is not the actual parquet piece I had, but I wanted to make sure you understood what it was previously used for.  I think the shape of these "roller board"pieces create a perfect headboard with hardly any work at all!

Simply take the piece off the floor and place it against the wall.  In order to secure the piece to the wall, you can screw straight through the wood into studs within the wall.  Just make sure to place the screws in spots that will be covered by the mattress.

This idea literally took me 5 minutes to implement and you can find these old "roller boards" at used office supply stores for next to nothing!

So what do you think?  Do you like this idea or was the DIY Moroccan headboard project more up your alley?

  1. Love the parquet floor headboard! It adds a vintage feel while the Ikat duvet gives it a fresh update.

Well done, I love thinking outside of the box!
