She Totally Nailed It!!!

So, I was planning on sharing another project from the music school today, but then I recieved an e-mail from Pam. Pam's exact words were,

"Just wanted to let you know you were the inspiration for my nailhead ceiling. I love it and owe it all to you and that awesome bold pattern!!!"

Pam was inspired by this post and this photo below.

I wasn't sure what to expect as I clicked over to see what Pam had created, but as soon as I saw her ceiling, I was floored!!!!!!! Take a look at how Pam took our pattern feature wall idea and made it totally her own!!

G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S!!!!! Did you recognize the material Pam used to create her amazing ceiling?

Nailhead strips and tacks!

What I love about this project is that Pam saw something that interested her and then she took the idea and made it her own. She made it into something that fit her style and home. And it's fantastic!

Pam writes a blog called Simple Details, where you can read more about her initial thoughts on this project, her process (a tutorial), and see more finished photos.

It is my hope that if you see something on this blog that you appreciate but isn't right inline with your style, that you could take the idea, make a few tweeks, and create something that really speaks to you-just like Pam did!!

A huge thanks to Pam for sharing her project with us!

  2. OMG... I totally pinned your original picture. That wall is so dramatic...yet not too out there or too bold. I know how exhausting that probably was... doing any work on the ceiling though ... man your arms do get sooo tired. I can't imagine just the physical demands of doing that intricate work on a ceiling. Thanks for always inspiring me. I'm not such a "craft person" as I am I guess a "project person" if that makes sense. I like doing the physical things ... the sawing, the brickwork, the painting. I am going to check her site out. I need to get in groups that are more to my style and things I enjoy doing. Thank you

    1. I think it's great that you love the "projects" rather than the crafts Becky! Tim will post more technical building posts fairly often- especially when he's explaining how to build the furniture he's created. A couple of other blogs you could check out for more "projects" are Merry Pad, One Project Closer, and Instructables.Google the names and they should pop right up! :)

  3. That wall is impressive! Pam did a great job on her ceiling, way to take something and make it your own. You all really need your own show on HGTV! You have ever tried to be on the design star show on HGTV?

    1. Hey DeAnn!

I actually have applied to be on Design Star. A few years ago I made to the final round (right before you get on the show). I really would have loved to get on the show, but I definitely feel like I have more of an inspirational story now that I am trying to make it happen on my own and not waiting for some reality producer to pick me for how much drama I will stir up! :)

  6. WOW! Love that!

And I totally agree with becky above. I could take or leave crafting, but projects? Love 'em! Even small projects, like lighting. Which is what we're working on over at our house.

    1. Thanks Cait. I was down for a while after I didn't make the show, but I had to dust myself off and keep going after my dreams. Some of the best were rejected before they finally accomplished their dreams, right!? How are your dreams coming along Cait?

    1. Hey Hannah,

I would suggest googling a local "upholstery supply" shop. They should be able to provide you with some or tell you where to look!
