For anyone who doesn't know me, I’m Caitlin, a 23 year old graphic design graduate living in Florida with my husband, Robert, and our two dogs. We bought our house last year and have caught the home decor bug. A great chuck of my time is spend browsing the many wonderful blogs out there, and after seeing Kara's guest room and master bedroom and Daniel's bed I came up with this plan for our guest room, which we felt was missing something. I should mention that there is one other element in our plan for the room that got completely scrapped this time around (thanks to a week full of rain and some things going on in our life away from the blog) and the side table inspired by Kara has not been finished yet either. We plan on tackling that later on, and if you'd like to see how those turn out we'll have details on our blog later.
With a basic plan in mind we trekked to our closest Ikea to pick up a few necessities and a light we hadn't originally planned on. Sadly they were out of the rug we wanted, so we'll have to add that later as well. Without further ado, the room.
The walls were already painted Valspar Spun Honey, so we just got down to the task of eliminating the "something is missing" feeling. We began breaking down old shipping pallets for the project the ended up getting scrapped this time around, so that was pretty much time lost, but we made up for it by getting the rest banged out quickly. The cost of this mini makeover was only about $275 if you exclude the cost of the tools we bought (since we will use those time and time again with other projects). Thankfully the materials for the two projects we had to postpone were free, so we aren't out anything there. You can check our blog later for a full cost breakdown along with some more details about exactly what we did and where we bought our materials.
What a transformation. . . and for such a reasonable price!!! I am sure after seeing this you will want to visit the extremely talented Cait at her blog- The Hernando HouseThe Hernando House. BUT be sure to leave her some super nice comments here before you go!!! :)
