SPRING SPRUCE-UPS PART 3

I am back with the last installment of "Spring Spruce-Ups" and I plan on going out with a bang! The next few suggestions can take some work, but the pay off is BIG! So read on. . .

Tip #7- Use INVITING LIGHTING. Of course updating your outdoor sconce is an easy and important quick fix. . .

but why not take it a step further and really make your home shine. Night lights highlighting your house, trees, paths, fountains, or other features can create an absolutely enchanting ambience.

TIP #8- CUT AND COLOR. Landscaping is an essential building block to creating curb appeal. I good tree trimming is often needed to showcase your home! If people can't see your beautiful bungalow how can they admire it? I am by NO MEANS suggesting you cut down trees, but getting rid of low lying branches will allow that majestic maple to frame your home instead of hide it!

Now to the COLOR. Most people only worry about the look of their landscaping in the summer, spring, and fall months. Many garden loving gurus will plant different flowers for each season and their beds are simply beautiful!! But. . . if you are not one of those green thumbs, consider planting evergreens. These generally low maintenance plants will keep their color year round allowing for a stunning scene even in the winter months. A few flowering annuals here and there for pops of color are easy and cheap to add if you get the itch to dig in the dirt!

TIP #9- FIND EYE SORE SOLUTIONS. Garage doors can be ugly. . . and unfortunately they can be seen from the street. But you don't have to settle for an eye sore stealing all your home's glory. The difference between this garage door. . .

and these garage doors. . .

is a couple pieces of wood and a few hinges and handles. Although I have no garage door to give you a proper tutorial- think about attaching those three elements (pieces of wood, faux hinges, and handles) to your standard garage door to take it from eye sore to ain't so bad.

See how we dealt with our own crappy car port situation in the next post!!

TIP #10- AMP UP YOUR ENTRANCE! This can be as simple as beefing up your puny posts or as involved as building a brand new porch.
